Business Audit

The Business Systems Review is a look at how your business runs today, in one area or across every department. It looks at how the work moves, from the first enquiry to the weekly numbers, and leaves your accounts to your accountant. We find where time and money leak, measure what each leak takes from your own figures, and hand you a plan for what to fix first.

01/The shift

From a hunch to a plan.

Now

One leak, guessed at.

  • You know something is leaking, but not where, so a fix can land on the symptom and leave the cause.
  • What the admin costs you is a rough guess, and a guess can't tell you which fix pays back first.
  • Everything feels urgent, so the loudest problem gets the time.
  • You pay for tools without knowing which ones earn their keep, and the unused ones keep charging you.

After the review

Every leak, measured.

  • You see every leak in the areas we look at, and the real cause behind the ones that matter most.
  • You know what each one takes in time and money, from your own figures.
  • You know what to fix first and why, and what isn't worth fixing at all.
  • Every tool you pay for is set out with what it holds and who uses it, so you can decide which to keep, connect or cancel.

02/How we compile it

How we compile it.

Every Business Systems Review runs on COMPILE, our method for turning what we learn about your business into one plan, in seven stages.

  1. 01/07

    Clarify

We agree where the review starts: one problem, the area our first call points to, or the whole business.

    What you get

    A clear starting point.

    What we look at

    • The area that hurts most
    • Where our first call points
    • One area or the whole business

    Questions it answers

    • Where do I even start?
    • Can I start with just one problem?
    • What if I'm not sure what's wrong?
  2. 02/07

    Observe

We look at how the work runs today, from the first enquiry to the weekly numbers, in every department the review covers.

    What you get

Each core process written up as it runs today, including what lives only in one person's head.

    What we look at

    • Marketing and sales
    • Operations and customer care
    • Finance and people
    • Running the business
    • The tools in between

    Questions it answers

    • Where does all the time go?
    • What happens when someone's off?
    • Why does work keep stalling?
  3. 03/07

    Measure

We measure what each leak takes in time and money, from your own figures. Where a number isn't known, the plan says so.

    What you get

What each leak takes in time and money, and a plain note wherever a figure isn't known.

    What we look at

    • Hours lost to admin and retyping
    • Enquiries and quotes that go quiet
    • Cash tied up in late invoices
    • Costs and extra work that never reach an invoice
    • Tools that overlap or go unused

    Questions it answers

    • What is this actually costing me?
    • Which leak costs me the most?
  4. 04/07

    Prioritise

We rank what we found by what fixing it would save against how much work the fix is.

    What you get

What to fix first, and why.

    What we look at

    • What each fix would save
    • How much work each fix is
    • Which fix pays back first
    • What's worth leaving alone

    Questions it answers

    • What do I fix first?
    • Is it worth fixing at all?
  5. 05/07

    Investigate

The leaks that matter most get a closer look, so each fix goes after the real cause.

    What you get

If the cause sits somewhere other than where it shows up, we show you where, and the plan says which fixes need AI and which don't.

    What we look at

    • The leaks that matter most
    • Where each problem really starts
    • Steps that could be dropped
    • Which fixes need AI

    Questions it answers

    • Why does this keep happening?
    • Is the problem where I think it is?
    • Do we need AI for this at all?
  6. 06/07

    Lay out

We design how it should all connect as one system, around the tools you already rely on.

    What you get

The system design: what connects to what, and which tools to keep, connect or cancel.

    What we look at

    • The tools you already rely on
    • How information passes between tools
    • Where each detail gets entered
    • Which decisions still reach you

    Questions it answers

    • Can it work with the tools I've got?
    • How does it all fit together?
    • What can I cancel?
  7. 07/07

    Equip

    You get the written plan.

    What you get

Everything above in one document. Our quote for the build comes with it, as a separate document.

    What it covers

    • The written plan
    • What we'd build
    • Our quote for the build, handed over with the plan

    Questions it answers

    • What do I walk away with?
    • What would the build involve?

03/What you leave with

What you leave with.

A written plan, in plain English, built from your own numbers.

  1. 01How each process runs today
  2. 02What every leak takes in time and money
  3. 03What to fix first, and why
  4. 04What we'd build, with our quote as a separate document

04/Ways in

Three ways in.

  • Bring one problem

Start with the area that hurts most. If it leads somewhere else, we'll show you where.

  • Let the call decide

Not sure where the trouble starts? We work it out with you when we first talk.

  • Look at the whole business

Every department, from the first enquiry to the weekly numbers.

Not sure which? Each way in starts with a free call.

Your part

Some time from you and the people who do the work, and view-only access to your tools where it helps.

05/Questions

Questions owners ask.

01

Is the Business Systems Review a financial audit?

No. It doesn't check your accounts or replace your accountant. It looks at how work moves through the business: enquiries, quotes, jobs, invoices, reporting and the tools in between. You get a written plan of what's broken, what it costs you, and what to fix first.

02

What is an operations audit for a small business?

An operations audit for a small business is a look at how the work runs, not at the accounts: how an enquiry becomes a job, a job becomes an invoice, and where time and money leak along the way. Ours is called the Business Systems Review. You get what each leak takes in time and money from your own figures, what to fix first, and the systems we'd build, in writing.

03

Can I start with just one problem?

Yes. Bring the area that hurts most and we'll start there. If it turns out the cause sits somewhere else, we'll show you where before going further.

04

How much does the Business Systems Review cost?

It depends on the size of the business and how much we look at, so we set it for each business once we've talked.

05

Do you need my passwords?

No. We ask for view-only access, exports or screenshots, and a list of who has access, never the logins themselves.

06/Delivered

What our clients say.

Each review is about a website or system we built.

Delivered on time and within budget, and they consistently brought thoughtful ideas that improved the final product. They challenged assumptions and added features that made it better.
